Here is the latest.

1. The offer from the State to the Legion to renew their lease and honor the sublease to Hamilton Racing is still open. If Hamilton Racing had done anything to invalidate the sublease the legion could then get us evicted in court. The sublease hasn't been violated so LC is not likely to sign the lease and let racing start on time as he wouldn't be able to take over and operate the track.

2. The State could issue a lease to the legion and let us fight it out in court. This probably would lock down the track for the season.

3. The State could issue the lease to Hamilton Racing. Racing would continue as per schedule.

4. The lease could go out for bid and the season would be delayed until July or so, ran by whoever wins the bid.

Hopefully we will have more info in a few days.

Mike, please let me know if there is anything i can do to help out. I know there is probably little that can be done but if these people at the state knew how much revenue the track brings to the town of Aztec while the track is open, this would be a no brainer. (just another angle i guess.) I am sure there is probably very little I can do at the moment, but if any legwork needs to be done, phone calls needed to be made, posts to be posted, I have made a ton of connections and there are a lot of people from out of town that I can get to join in to support you. You have my backing and many many more from around the region. You do not deserve to go through this, nor do the drivers, nor do the sponsors, or the community or the local businesses. THanks for fighting when it is all too often easier to give up.
Best Regards,
Tre Brewbaker

Thanks Tre, there are many drivers and fans who have volunteered to help just like you. I appreciate you all but right now it is all in the hands of the State and the good veteran members in the legion. (not all fall in this group) My counsel is keeping me on the high road so we may prevail in the end.

THanks, Mike

Thanks for the update... I have written and submitted a letter to Mr. Lyons last week and it was forwarded to Mr. Stevens. I am hoping they will sit down and look at it and take in consideration what I presented. We have been also been in contact with Attorney Stevens through many phone calls.

I urge everyone that wants a place to race write a letter and email or fax it to Pat Lyons or to his secretary. Lets work together and gather the support for Mr Lyons to make the right decision. Such as option 3 on Mr. Hamilton's list.

Reason for Edit... Typo

Also Mike do you still have a copy of the petition. We were going to fax it to his office but can't find it at the pawn shop.

Here is the latest on the track mess after a racer had a conversation with the State.

Option 1 might still be accepted but the other party won't go there.

Options 2 and 3 are highly unlikely.

Option 4 is what is being worked on but they have no specifics as to a time frame, advertising duration etc. They are trying to sort out the treatment of improvements, bid specs etc as per State law. From my research it looks to be complicated.

At this time it looks as if we are going to start losing races from our schedule. I will try to get a time frame as soon as possible and adjust the schedule based on that time frame.

For those racers fortunate enough to afford some travel expense, I would look for some April races elsewhere in the region. For the racers on a tight budget I will keep shaking the tree and hope to get our race track to fall out as soon as possible.

Thanks, Mike

Wow! Thank you for the update Mike. I am sure it would just be easiest for you to give up, but I think you fighting shows how much you care about us racers and fans.
