Been hearing lots of stuff about the lease from the state, the Aztec VFW, LC Kesterson, etc. Some good news in the stuff that I heard, the state has amended the lease contract in a way that won't allow Aztec Well to take over the lease to extend their equipment yard. So it sounds like the State is interested in keeping the track going. I also heard that the stuff that is going on may not be resolved until late 2010. Are we going to be racing at Aztec Speedway in 2010?

Like I said, all just rumors, but it would suck to see Aztec dark next year, or any year.

It aint cocky if you back it up!

LC signed a sublease to Hamilton Racing thru 2014 on the strength of which I spent 96k purchasing previous improvements and another 48k in maintenance and further improvements. For reasons only known to himself, LC tried to default on the sublease. In order to protect my investment, I applied for the State lease directly. The State sent notice that the property will be put out to bid for the purpose of operating a race track. There is a 10 week advertising period required by NM State law before the bid opening. The only thing that could delay the 2010 season are the appeals to the State by LC which could prevent the 10 week clock from starting. If the appeals from LC stop or get dealt with by the State, the bid can go forward and someone will be running the track come April.

That's the rumor I heard. They were after the lease to use the land to expand their equipment yard. But who knows, just rumors ya know.

Thanks for the response Mike. Sounds like good news, hopefully it is all taken care of by April!

Too many fingers in the pie...Good luck with all the politic'n Mike! With all the normal crap that goes with owning/leasing/promoting/running/maintaining a track, now the government will take care of you, I'm sure. Not.

Yeah, but can't you just picture it? Lynn up in the booth...."And here comes #2654 round turn 3....Yep, here he comes, he's in the lead, still in turn 3, what action folks, they're runnin' 1 wide in the turns, looks like he might have gotten into the wall a bit, there's some chain link hangin off the rear 1/2 panel, but look out here comes the doghouse crew, what? I don't believe it folks, they have a torch and are cutting off the fence on the fly!!! Wow, what a night at the Speedway!!! That rig is blazing through turn 4 now, grabbing about 6 gears heading up the straightaway, with #2187 close behind, dodging the falling parts! Is that the black flag for 2654??? Oh, no, just exhaust covering the flagman. Need some air down there Toby??? Cough, hack, hack.

Im sure we all remember how the track use to be run 15 or so years ago i sure hope it does not go back to being run that way and i know it wont with mike behind everything. The 4 corners late models will support hamilton racing with Aztec Speedway in anyway possible.
